At Cake Fiesta Manila Cake Competitions, you will experience the feel of an International Cake Competition.  Whether you are a beginner, hobbyist or a pro, everyone has a fair chance. Your entry will be judged according to criteria set by the Judging Committee.

Your work will not be compared to the other entries and judges will rate your work according to how you will present it. Keep in mind all the criteria, then add a teaspoon of skills, a pinch of passion, a dash of sugar and cups of practice and beat them all together!

Judging Criterias

  • GENERAL APPEARANCE – Includes overall first impression 10% 10%
  • PROPORTION, BALANCE AND USE OF COLOR – Includes artistry and visual interest, including application, color balance, continuity of color 20% 20%
  • NUMBER OF TECHNIQUES USED – number of and use of techniques incorporated into the item 10% 10%
  • CREATIVITY/ ORIGINAL/ CLEVER ADAPTATION OF AN IDEA – includes display and design composition. 20% 20%
  • DIFFICULTY of TECHNIQUES – assesses the varying complexity and uniqueness of techniques incorporated into the item 15% 15%

Sugar Flower Display Category

Sugar Flower Display Category

A realistic display of sugar flowers and foliage to create a lovely bunch

Rules in English
  • The bouquet and all its elements should be made from any edible paste medium. (gumpaste, fondant, rice paste, flexipaste, lotus paste, etc.) Wafer paper is not allowed.
  • There has to be 12 fully bloomed flowers (at least 3 different varieties) in your bouquet apart from the foliage and filler flowers.
  • A board or a non-edible container (vase, basket, etc) to display your entry is permitted. Styrofoam or dummy cake is not permitted.
  • Wires, stamens and tape are permitted.
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 30cm x30cm (12” x12”) square.
Rules in Filipino
  • Ang flower bouquet at lahat ng mga elemento nito ay dapat gawa mula sa isang nakakain na paste medium. (gumpaste, fondant, rice paste, flexipaste, lotus paste, etc.) Hindi maaari ang wafer paper.
  • Dapat ay mayroong 12 ganap na namumulaklak na mga bulaklak (hindi bababa sa 3 iba’t ibang mga varieties) sa iyong bouquet kasama ng mga dahon at mga filler flowers.
  • Pinapayagan ang isang cake board o pang-display na lalagyan (vase, basket, etc) upang ipakita o i-display ang iyong entry. Hindi pinapayagan ang pag gamit ng styrofoam o dummy cake.
  • Pinahihintulutan ang mga wire, stamen at tape.
  • Pinapayagan kahit gaano kataas ang entry ngunit ang display ay hindi dapat lumagpas sa isang 30cm x30cm (12inx12n) na espasyo.
Celebration Cake Category

Celebration Cake Category

A single tiered cake covered with any edible medium for ANY special occasion.

Rules in English
  • It has to be 100% cake. No dummy/styrofoam is permitted.
  • Only single tiered cake decorated in any chosen edible medium.
  • Chosen occasion must be visibly obvious and clear.
  • Cake entry must have an edible inscription with a minimum of ten letters/ numbers indicating the occasion.
  • Wired sugar flowers and foliage are permitted.
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 30cm x30cm (12in x12in) space.
Rules in Filipino
  • Dapat itong 100% cake. Hindi pinapayagan ang dummy o styrofoam.
  • Tanging nag-iisang tiered cake na dinekorasyunan ng anumang napiling medium na nakakain.
  • Ang napiling okasyon o thema ay dapat na malinaw.
  • Ang cake entry ay dapat magkaroon ng nakakain na inskripsiyon na may pinakamababang sampung titik / numero na nagpapahiwatig ng okasyon. hal. “Happy Birthday”
  • Pinahihintulutan ang mga wired sugar flowers at dahon na gawing dekorasyon.
  • Pinapayagan kahit gaano kataas ang entry ngunit ang display ay hindi dapat lumagpas sa isang 30cm x30cm (12inx12n) na espasyo.
Wedding Cake Category

Wedding Cake Category

Three or more tiers with the the style, theme and medium of your choice.

Rules in English
  • Any edible medium may be used to cover and decorate.
  • Wired sugar flowers and foliage are permitted, but must not penetrate the coating unless a suitable barrier is used.
  • Any style or theme is permitted.
  • The shapes of the tiers should be a typical shape and not carved/sculpted cake. (eg round, square, octagon, etc.)
  • Dummies/styrofoam are permitted but all tiers must be treated as a real cake. 
  • “Spacer tiers” are accepted (eg lighted tiers, pillars,etc) but these does not count to the actual number of tiers.
  • Display drapes and other element must be contained in the permitted area.
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 48cm x48cm (18” x18”) space.

  • Ang anumang nakakain na medium ay maaaring gamitin upang ipang-cover at ipang-decorate sa cake entry.
  • Pinahihintulutan ang mga wired sugar flowers at dahon na gawing dekorasyon ngunit hindi dapat basta itusok maliban kung ang angkop na barrier/cover ay ginagamit.
  • Pinapayagan ang anumang estilo o theme.
  • Ang mga hugis ng mga tier ay dapat na isang pangkaraniwang hugis at hindi inukit / sculpted cake. (hal. round, square, octagon, atbp)
  • Pinapayagan ang mga dummy / styrofoam ngunit ang lahat ng mga tier ay dapat tratuhin bilang isang tunay na cake.
  • Tinatanggap ang mga “spacer tiers” (hal. lighted tiers, pillars, atbp) ngunit hindi ito binibilang sa aktwal na bilang ng mga cake tier.
  • Ang mga display drapes at iba pang elemento ay dapat na nakapaloob sa pinapahintulutang lugar.
  • Pinapayagan kahit gaano kataas ang entry ngunit ang display ay hindi dapat lumagpas sa isang 48cm x48cm (18” x18”) na espasyo.
Sculpted Cake Category

Sculpted Cake Category

A carved 100 % cake covered in any suitable edible medium.

Rules in English
  • It has to be real cake, carved and covered in any suitable edible medium.
  • Rice krispies treats may be used only when absolutely necessary.
  • The cake and all decorations must be edible and internal supports /armature are permitted but must be properly covered.
  • Styrofoam/dummies are NOT permitted.
  • Minimum of five (5) in-progress pictures are required where you show cake and edible mediums are used.  Cakes will not be sliced or tasted.
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 60cmx60cm (24in x24in) space.
Rules in Filipino
  • Dapat itong 100% cake, kinurba/kinortehan at may angkop na cover  gamit ang medium na nakakain.
  • Maaaring magamit lamang ang rice krispies treats kapag talagang kinakailangan.
  • Ang cake at lahat ng mga dekorasyon ay dapat nakakain at ang mga panloob na suporta / armature ay pinahihintulutan ngunit dapat na takpan ng maayos at hindi derektang nakadikit sa kahit ano mang parte ng cake.
  • HINDI pinapayagan ang Styrofoam / dummies.
  • Kinakailangan ang minimum na limang (5) in-progress na larawan para patunayan kung paano ginamit ang cake at lahat ng nakakain na elemento. Ang mga cake entry ay hindi hihiwain o titkman.
  • Pinapayagan kahit gaano kataas ang entry ngunit ang display ay hindi dapat lumagpas sa isang 60cmx60cm (24in x24in) na espasyo.
Non-Tasted Cupcakes Category

Non-Tasted Cupcakes Category

12 decorated cupcakes in any edible medium and theme of your choice.

Rules in English
  • It has to be 100% cake. No dummy/styrofoam is permitted.
  • You should prepare 12 cupcakes with a minimum of 6 unique individual designs. Other designs can be repeated.
  • Any decorative topper must be balanced with the overall design of the cupcake.
  • Display stands, a covered board or a suitable surface may be used are permitted as long as it fits the space restriction.You can also display the cupcakes as it is.
  • Back board is NOT permitted. 
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 38cm x38cm (15in x15in) space.
Rules in Filipino
  • Dapat itong 100% cake. Hindi pinapayagan ang dummy / styrofoam.
  • Dapat kang maghanda ng 12 cupcake na may minimum na 6 natatanging mga indibidwal na disenyo. Ang ibang disenyo ay maaaring maulit.
  • Anumang decorative topper ay dapat na balanse sa pangkalahatang disenyo ng cupcake.
  • Maaaring gumamit ng display stand, isang cake board na may cover/dekorasyon o kahit anong naaayon na surface hangga’t ito ay dapat na nakapaloob sa pinapahintulutang espasyo. Maaari rin na walang kahit ano.
  • Hindi pinahihintulutan ang back board.
  • Pinapayagan kahit gaano kataas ang entry ngunit ang display ay hindi dapat lumagpas sa isang 38cm x38cm (15inx15in) na espasyo.
Themed Cookies Category

Themed Cookies Category

4 individually decorated cookies in any edible medium and theme of your choice.

Rules in English
  • It has to be 100% cookies. No dummy/styrofoam is permitted.
  • You should prepare and design 4 indidivually unique cookies with a minimum size of 4inx4in. Style or theme is at Competitor’s choice.
  • The decorating medium is strictly using royal icing only.
  • No artificial decoration may be used. No sprinkles, dragees, etc are allowed.
  • The use of moulds and textured rolling pins are not permitted.
  • The cookie must be an embossed 2D design ONLY. No 3D designs.
  • Painting can be incorporated into the design but not as the main decoration.
  • The cookies may be presented on a plate stand or board.
  • No glaze is permitted in this class.
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 25.4cm x 25.4cm (10inx10in) space.

  • Dapat itong 100% cookies. Hindi pinapayagan ang dummy / styrofoam.
  • Dapat kang maghanda at magdisenyo ng 4 natatanging indibidwal na mga cookies na may minimum na laki ng 4inx4in. Ang estilo o tema ayon sa Competitor’s choice.
  • Ang natatanging medium na maaaring gamitin sa pagdisenyo sa categoryang ito ay Royal Icing.
  • Hindi pinapahintulutan ang pag gamit ng artipisyal na palamuti tulad ng sprinkles, dragees at iba pang katulat nito.
  • Hindi pinahihintulutan ang paggamit ng mga molds at textured rolling pins.
  • Ang cookie ay dapat na isang embossed 2D na disenyo lang. Hindi pwede ang 3D design.
  • Ang pagpipinta ay maaaring isama sa pag disenyo o pagdekurasyon ngunit hindi bilang pangkalahatang disenyo.
  • Ang mga cookies ay maaaring i-display sa isang plate stand o board.
  • Hindi pinahihintulutan ang pag-gamit ng glaze o pangpakintab.
  • Pinapayagan kahit gaano kataas ang entry ngunit ang display ay hindi dapat lumagpas sa isang 22.86cm x 22.86cm (10inx10in) na espasyo.
100% Buttercream Cake Category

100% Buttercream Cake Category

A two-tiered cake decorated in any type of buttercream in your chosen theme.

Rules in English
  • Only any type of buttercream or frosting may be used to cover and decorate the cake. (eg american buttercream, swiss/italian meringue bc, french bc, etc)
  • Dummies/styrofoam are permitted but all tiers must be treated as a real cake. 
  • You must use exactly 2 tiers for your cake entry only, no more, no less. Size of tiers are regardless.
  • The shapes of the tiers should be a typical shape and not carved/sculpted cake. (eg round, square, octagon, etc.)
  • “Spacer tiers” are NOT accepted (eg lighted tiers, pillars,etc).
  • No height restrictions. The display must not EXCEED a 30cm x30cm (12in x12in) space.
Rules in Filipino
  • Tanging ang anumang uri ng buttercream o frosting ang maaaring gamitin na pang cover at pang disenyo cake entry. (hal. american buttercream, swiss / italian meringue bc, french bc, atbp)
  • Pinapayagan ang mga dummy / styrofoam ngunit ang lahat ng mga tier ay dapat tratuhin bilang isang tunay na cake.
  • Dapat ay gumamit ng eksaktong 2 tier para sa iyong cake entry. Hindi bababa o tataas sa bilang na iyon. Maaaring gumamit ng anu mang  laki/taas ng mga tier.
  • Ang mga hugis ng mga tier ay dapat na isang pangkaraniwang hugis at hindi inukit / sculpted cake. (hal. round, square, octagon, atbp)
  • Ang “spacer tiers” ay HINDI tinatanggap (hal. Lighted tiers, pillars, atbp).
