Jacqueline Butler (USA)

Owner and Creative Director at Petalsweet, based in San Diego, California, Jacqueline is a former wedding cake artist turned sugarcraft and cake decorating Instructor. After falling in love with sugar flowers as a hobby, Jacqueline studied with some of the best sugar flower-makers in the business and soon after began her own journey in cake. Officially founded in 2005, Petalsweet became one of Southern California’s favorite studios specializing in wedding cakes decorated with beautiful modern and stylized sugar flowers. Known for clean delicate designs and fresh color palettes, our wedding cakes were enjoyed by fabulous brides in both San Diego and the Bay Area.

Five years into the business, Jacqueline was contacted by other cake artists asking to learn her methods for making and finishing sugar flowers. After offering private lessons and group classes in Southern California and San Francisco, Jacqueline discovered her love for teaching sugarcraft and began to focus more of the business on providing learning opportunities for cake decorators and enthusiasts, from beginner to advanced.

Today, Jacqueline travels and teaches her signature style of cake decorating and sugar flowers across the US, as well as overseas including Australia, Europe and Asia. She has also partnered with Craftsy to produce two popular online videos covering her favorite filler flowers, and with F + W Media International to author her first book Modern Sugar Flowers, published in April 2017.

Stevi Auble (USA)

Stevi Auble (USA) is a formally trained interior designer turned self taught cake artist and author. Her award winning cakes are known for their modern aesthetic, clean lines and creative use of wafer paper. Stevi’s love for cake design and wafer paper began in late 2010 and she has since spent her time nurturing her growing business in San Diego and teaching the art of modern wafer paper techniques in person worldwide as well as through online classes via Craftsy.com.  Her book Wafer Paper Cakes released in early October 2017 has already created quite a buzz in the industry and debuted as #1 on Amazon’s pre-sale list. 

Zoe Hopkinson (UK)

Zoe is the creative force behind Zoe’s Fancy Cakes (UK). Zoe has a love of all things arty and likes to bring this out in her passion for decorating and teaching all things cake. Zoe’s journey into the world of cakes began by accident late 2013 when out of the blue she was asked to make a little cake topper, Zoe still doesn’t know why she was asked but she has never looked back since. Zoe is based in Leeds, England where she works from her Shop alongside the rest of her team (Richard, Ste and Jeanette). Zoe’s passion is teaching and through her YouTube channel; Zoe’s Fancy Cakes she manages to break down the most complicated of cake designs into easy to follow step by step tutorials. Her videos are great for beginners, intermediates and professionals alike. As well as teaching online Zoe also travels the world showcasing her skills and passing on her knowledge through face to face classes. Zoe has won several gold awards at Cake International and has been featured in a number of Cake publications around the world offering advice / hints and tips to readers.

Marta Torres (PORTUGAL)

Marta Torres is a Cookie Decorator and Cookie Artist, the person behind The Cookie Lab (Portugal). She is known for her Passion and Enthusiasm for Royal Icing, and volume, 3 D piping and textures with coloured royal icing and some realistic effects in cookies. She travels the world teaching her speciality techniques and now being invited by Cake International Show to be part of the Judging Committee.

Sidney Galpern (USA)

Sidney Galpern, owner of SimiCakes.com (USA), Sugar Artist, Certified Professional Chocolatier, International Instructor, one of 16 chosen to be on the International Cake Designers of Excellence Team for the International Federation of Pastry Gelato & Chocolate in Milan, Italy. She is the creator and manufacturer of Simi Isomalt and Silicone Molds. Sidney opened her bakery and manufacturing facility and began teaching 12 years ago in Melbourne, FL. She is the host of “Will Travel For Sweets” online tv show produced by the Property Bothers, Jonathan and Drew Scott, was honored to be chosen the Desert Professional for ABC TV’s Extreme Home Makeover, film for Galileo TV in Germany, various news outlets across the United States, chosen for the Sweet Life Hall of Fame Award and the Libby Desousa award for Outstanding Service in the Sugar Industry. She travels extensively, teaching and demonstrating her love of sugar all around the world.

Cynthia Kia White (USA)

After a decade of working in the interior design industry, Cynthia White (USA) stumbled upon the world of cake artistry and fell in love.  She combines her in-depth knowledge of color, space, and design and translates these into art in the form of cake.  Known for her crisp, clean designs and innovative uses for edible mediums, Cynthia prides herself on pushing the boundaries of cake design creating one-of-a-kind edible art. Her award winning work has been featured on television, published in magazines both in the US and abroad and has been shared on numerous high profile blogs as well.


With a steadily growing social media presence and a global fanbase, she now shares her knowledge through private classes, cake shows, and cake decorating schools near you.

Cynthia just won the Food Network’s  Holloween Wars 2018 together with her team mates, Orly Yadao and Arlen Pelleter.

Sachiko Windbiel (USA)

Sachiko Windbiel is the owner of mimicafe Union (USA), based in Santa Monica California ( newly relocated from NYC! ). Her speciality is creating Fondant Figures & Cake Topper as well as offering well received Fondant Figure workshops. Sachiko artistic skills are self developed and inspired by her childhood fascination with Manga and Animation. Sachiko feels most fulfilled by the connections she makes with the people at her workshops, and she is motivated to inspire others to explore and enjoy their own creativity.

Dawn Butler (UK)

Dawn Butler is the name behind Dinkydoodle Designs (UK).

In 2010 she turned her hobby of making cakes for friends and family into a small home business. Dawn found a passion for novelty cakes and soon become recognised worldwide for her realistic cakes and most of all, her amazing airbrushing skills.

In 2012 The Dinkydoodle airbrush and colour range were born, and these quickly received worldwide acclaim being regarded as some of the best products in the cake industry. Always striving to push the boundaries of cake art in 2014 Dawn launched her invention CakeFrame. This was the first time the world had seen a food grade purpose made internal structural support system for cakes, that was not only simple to use but easy on the pocket too.

2016 saw Dawn crowned CakeMasters Cake Artist of the year, an internationally critically acclaimed award, which recognised not only her talents but also her relentless efforts to share her passion and skills with others across the globe in her classes and tutorials.

In 2017 she was further recognised as one of the UK’s Top 10 cake artists by Cake Masters Magazine. She has also made cakes for the Royalty.

7 years on and the Business is going strength to strength as Dawn continues to be a pioneer in the cake world, she is now able to bring cakes to life – literally, and will soon be launching the first ever moving cake kits.

Margherita Ferrara (ITALY)
Margherita Ferrara is one of the most notable names in the Italian cake art scene. She comes to the cake world with a degree in Fashion and Costume Art and an extensive history working for major national and international fashion companies. She brings her fashion designer’s precision, imagination, and glamour into her cake art.
In April 2013, Margherita formed Fashflower’s Cake offering cake decorating classes and organizing national and international events.Marble style is Margherita’s passion and she has mastered the art of working sugarpaste to imitate the look of carved marble. She reproduced Michelangelo’s La Pietà in sugarpaste so succesfully that the piece took awards in both the UK and New York.In addition to her role as European Brand Ambassador for Innovative Sugarworks, Margherita is also an Italian Ambassador for Renshaw / Rainbow Dust Europe, assistant for Tlook by Tissì Benvegna . She is always work in progress…
Prachi Dhabal Deb (INDIA)

Prachi Dhabaldeb is a multi award winning cake artist based in Pune, India.She has been trained under the renowned artist Sir Eddie Spence MBE.She was awarded as one if the top 10 Cake Artists of India, 2017 and 2018 by Cake Masters Magazine.She was also a finalist for Royal Icing Category in 2017 and 2018 and Best Magazine Cover category in 2017 Cake Masters Awards, UK.She is the country manager(India) for Global Sugar Artists Network.Her work has been featured in various national and international books and magazines.

Jessica Minh Vu (VIETNAM)

Former brand name Floral Cakes by Jessica MV, now Cake Jess, Jessica Minh Vu from Hanoi, Vietnam, won the Best Wedding Cake Award of the prestigous Cake Masters Magazine Awards in 2017. She also has been featured numerous times in reputed cake and sugarcraft magazines like Cake Masters, Cake Central, American Cake Decorating etc…including twice being the cover star of Cake Central Magazine.

Jessica has been invited to cake fairs, sugarcraft schools and studios all around the globe to share her skills in cake decorating and making flowers using sugar and the new edible mediums which she is proud to create on her own: rice paste and bean paste. Now she is researching another fascinating floral medium: silk paste. Jessica is simply in search of the self in her passion for edible art and she loves the beautiful feeling of inspiring people with her new cake and flower designs.

Michelle Smith (AUSTRALIA)

Michelle Smith is the owner of Cake Craze based in Newcastle, Australia. She is a trained, experienced, and full-time professional cake decorator. Furthermore, she is also an International teacher/ instructor, International cake show judge, and cake show competitor at the same time.

After completing the full course, and numerous other classes taught by international and well-known Australian cake artists and pastry chefs, Michelle completed her Masters in Cake Decorating, and was offered an Internship, followed by a working role at Planet Cake.

Michelle has a passion for all things Weddings, which led her to specialise in wedding cakes. Michelle has also developed a range of cake decorating stencils over the past five years (Cake Craze Stencils), and became a sponsor of the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show (OSSAS) in 2014.  Michelle was a guest judge at the OSSAS in 2015, 2017 & 2018, invited by organiser and Australian cake matriarch, Kerry Vincent, also entering the Grand Wedding competition in 2017 (Bronze award) & 2018 (Silver award, and 13th place).

Dot Klerck (SOUTH AFRICA)

Dot Klerck is an International  multi award winning cake artist, she honed her skills in art school, but taught herself the basics (and more!) of cake decoration. She lives in Wellington in the wine region of the Cape, South Africa and is married to Tobie, together they have 4 children.

Each year Dot is invited to teach at International Sugar Shows and Sugar Schools all around the world. She has traveled to more than 30 different countries teaching her unique skills in sculpture and design and continues to create her sugar sculptures in between teaching.

Dot has been featured in magazines and on television around the world including in Great Britain, USA, Brazil, France, Spain, Portugal, India, Thailand, Australia and locally.

Rosie Dummer (UK)

Multi award-winning Cake Artist, Rosie Dummer, AKA Rosie Cake Diva, is currently starring in Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers. She has been featured in numerous magazines and was the winner of the Cake Masters Wedding Cake of the Year Award in 2012.

She has since gone on to present the Cake Masters Magazine Awards at the star-studded event held at the NEC Birmingham for the past four years.

Now a regular on TV and Radio, Rosie presents on BBC Radio Lancashire, has presented her own TV show on The Craft Channel and works closely with the UK’s major trade shows including Cake International and The Cake and Bake Show.

Meet our Local Teachers

Cai Gutierrez-Ladion
Cai Gutierrez-Ladion or teacher Cai as her students call her, together with her team are conducting buttercream flower piping classes every Friday and Saturday. From her small tutorials in their house in Fairview, they are now holding classes mostly in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao. Caicakes was first invited by Wonderbake and had their first official class at The Baker’s Co. in Quezon City.
Cai is the first who qualify a Master Instructor license under the Republic Of Korea Flowercake Association in the Philippines. She has completed several courses from different flower piping instructors from Korea such as Nana Cake and G.G. Cakraft.
Caicakes is the current ambassador of Kenwood Philippines and partnered with several pastry products endorsing cakes, baking products, and baking websites.
Lora Sebastian

Cottontail Cake Studio is a Manila-based cake studio spearheaded by sisters Lora Sebastian and Lisane Bate. With their wonderful and talented cake team, they embark on endless adventures characterised by pillaging pirates, and crazy woodland creatures,  (to name a few) on landscapes of cake crumbs. Though often physically found in their Katipunan studio sculpting, but their minds are often elsewhere traveling in their imaginations. 

Since it was started, Cottontail Cake Studio has been fortunate to be working with the best in the local children’s party industry, such as the creative stylists Kaye Garcia and Michelle Yao of Party Magic. They also have had the privilege to be featured in several reputable local and international blogs and publications, such as Baby and Breakfast,  Kara’s Party Ideas, and Squires Kitchens’ Cakes and Sugarcraft Magazine.

Aside from focusing on designing cakes for childrens’ parties, Lora and Lisane have expanded the studio to teach workshops for Gourdo’sand OC’s Kitchen.

Marie Mae Tacugue

Marie Mae Tacugue is a cake artist from Davao City. Owner of Cupcake Couture Davao, specializes in customized fondant cakes and dessert table. She also teaches various type of cake related classes such as cakesicles, sugar cookies, sugar flowers and sharp edge fondant.

Joanna Penaloza-Romero

Joanna Penaloza-Romero is the owner and creative director of CUPPYPUPPY SWEETS & SUGARART, based in Paranaque, Philippines. Joanna is a beauty queen, former model and structural engineer turned cake artist and sugarcraft instructor. Her passion for baking and cake decorating was a late discovery as she only started after she was married and had her first child. With the encouragement of her husband, Joanna taught herself to bake & decorate cakes. Quickly realizing how much she enjoyed her new found hobby, Joanna sought to enhance her skills by taking a pastry course and studying with the best local & international instructors in the industry. It has now been over 10 years, and Joanna has grown her hobby into a thriving business. CuppyPuppy is known for realistic sugar flowers on cakes as well as themed cake and sweets spreads; making Joanna one of the most sought after party supplier in the industry, creating cakes and sweets for Manila’s elite, celebrities and even a president! Joanna is constantly pushing the boundaries of what a home baker can do and accomplish, not just in terms of making cakes, sugar flowers and figures, but also by establishing design trends. She pioneered the straight edge cakes trend in the Philippines, as well as offering custom themed desserts on styled tables. She was also one of the first to offer specialized workshops on cake decorating, based on cake projects and not as part of a school curriculum or a module. Design, craftsmanship and quality are what sets Joanna apart. She has been featured on numerous party blogs, locally & internationally; has appeared as a guest on local tv shows; featured on magazines; and has won for herself a few medals in cake competitions. Her latest win was for her artistic sugar showpiece in Singapore’s FHA Culinary Challenge 2018.
